Safety is the first and most important part of this fishing competition, so we have set the rules to make it as safe as possible for all anglers.

Life Jackets must be worn by all anglers on vessels under 6 meters, kayaks and rfds are recommended for those land-based fishing or at least in their land based kits.

Radios/flares/throw ropes flash lights/epirbs/first aid kits are not in the rules, but we do advise that if you have them then take them as a precaution.  Some form of contact device i.e Radio or cell phone is a requirement!!!!

Coast guard trip reports should be made if going on the water by a power-driven vessel.

Dive Flags for divers are a must!!!!!

People must follow the Maritime rules of 5 knots rule when you are within 200 meters of any dive flag and the shore line.

5 knots when within 50 meters of any other vessel

Boats need to use their nav lights in the dark!!! Small vessels and kayaks need at least one white light so they can be seen from boats from all directions, there is going to be a lot of people on the water so you want to make sure you are seen.

If you see any dangerous behaviour on the water, be sure to report it to us so we can bring it up and to peoples attention to fix the issue.
